MACC GREYHOUNDS DEFEAT MISSOURI STATE-WEST PLAINS 69-66

#10 ranked Moberly to host SE Iowa in season finale

The Moberly Area Community College Basketball Team went on the road and defeated Missouri State-West Plains 69-66 Wednesday Evening. Moberly lead 42-34 at the half and after a back and forth contest the second half, was able to gain the victory with 5 straight points by Latrell Kyles at end of the contest. Sophomore wing Javaris Moye lead MACC in scoring with 18 points and 8 rebounds, 6'8" sophomore forward Thomas Diew had 14 points and 6'5" sophomore Ade Popoola added 12 points and 8 rebounds.

"Very tough game on the road against a West Plains team that was well prepared and played well," said Coach Patrick Smith, "We were up and down the entire game, had a couple of leads that we didn't protect due to breakdowns and lack of consistency. However, I give our players a ton of credit for how we stayed the course and found a way to get the win. Great game to end the Region regulars season schedule, a real reminder of the quality of competition we will face in the regional tournament and how each possession is to be valued. Our immediate goal is to finish the regular season with a strong performance and then get prepared for the Regional Tournament."

Moberly currently has a 25-4 record with their 23rd victory in the last 24 games, finished 11-1 In Region 16, won the MCCAC Championship and are ranked #10 nationally in the latest NJCAA National Poll. The Greyhounds conclude their season with a home contest vs. Southeastern Iowa at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 PM and the MACC Sophomores will be honored.
