MACC GREYHOUNDS DEFEAT THREE RIVERS 75-67

#10 Ranked Hounds improve to 24-4

The Moberly Area Community College Men's Basketball Team defeated Three Rivers Comm. College 75-67 in NJCAA Region 16 action on Saturday at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Moberly fell behind 15 points the first half and trailed 38-26 at the half. However, Moberly came out for the second half and tied the contest at 40-40 within the first six minutes and eventually stretched the lead to 68-54. Sophomore wing Ade Popoola lead MACC with 27 points and 15 rebounds while Sophomore point guard KJ Vasser and Sophomore forward Thomas Diew added 16 points each. Sophomore wing Javaris Moye contributed 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to the winning effort.

"We struggled in all three phases of the game the first half," said Coach Patrick Smith, "However, completely different mentality and performance the second half against a very good Three Rivers squad. Really like how we defended and executed on offense along with seizing momentum of the game. Obviously, we need more consistency and must eliminate systematic mistakes that contributed to not being our best at all times. Very proud of what this team has accomplished but a deep desire to accomplish much more based on continued improvement. This is the time of year that counts and we look forward to the challenges of finishing the regular season and heading into post season play."

The #10 nationally ranked Moberly Greyhounds improved to 24-4 on the season with their 22nd win out of their last 23 games. They also secured the #1 seed for the upcoming NJCAA Region 16 Tournament to be held March 7-8 at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO. MACC will finish the regular season this week by traveling to West Plains College on Wednesday, Feb. 26 with a 7 pm tip off and return home to play Southeastern Iowa CC on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 PM.
