The Moberly Area Community College Men's Basketball Squad defeated John A. Logan Comm. College 75-58 on Sunday evening in the Illinois-Missouri Shootout at St. Louis CC-Forest Park. Moberly jumped out to an early 16-5 lead and eventually lead at the half 36-31. Moberly gained control of the contest early in the second half and posted the victory behind a strong defensive performance. Sophomore PG K.J. Vasser lead MACC in scoring with 22 points(3 made treys) while Soph. wing Latrell Kyles scored 20 points with 7 rebounds and fellow sophomore Ade Popoola added 14 points along with 11 rebounds.
"Very impressed and pleased with our players and teams performance," said Coach Patrick Smith , "We have progressively got better and the most important element of our improved play has been having a true defensive identity. We defeated a very good John Logan team today that was coming off impressive wins over Triton and Three Rivers. We want to be really hard to score against and efficient on offense while playing well as close to 40 minutes as possible. Very enthused about our recent play, still lots of ways we can improve and looking forward to finishing the semester by playing in the Highland Tourney."
Moberly currently has compiled an 8-3 record while winning their 6th straight victory and being ranked #25 in the latest NJCAA National Rankings. The Greyhounds will be back in action on December 13-14 when they play in the Highland CC Tournament in Freeport, Illinois.
