MACC GREYHOUNDS WINNING STREAK AT 3 GAMES
#16 ranked Moberly host West Plains tonight
The Moberly Area Community College Men's Basketball Team defeated Three Rivers Community College 94-71 on the road Saturday night in Poplar Bluff to stretch their winning streak to 3 games. Moberly lead 42-31 at the half and cruised to the victory behind 20 points by Tekao Carpenter(5-8 from 3 point range) while Akili Evans posted 15 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists with Xavier Sykes adding 16 points, Freddie Cooper with 13 points and 6 rebounds while Cameron Williams scored 11 points with 8 rebounds.
Moberly posted an impressive victory over #4 ranked Mineral Area 71-67 in a tightly contested contest at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Evans lead the Greyhounds with 24 points, Carpenter lead with 17 points and Cooper scored 14 points.
After trailing State Fair 26-35 at the half, Moberly came back to post an 82-68 victory on the road on Saturday, February 17. Five players scored in double figures with Sykes with 15 points, Carpenter and Reynolds with 13 points each, Moye and Cooper with 12 points each while Cameron Williams scored 10 points.
"Coming off an extremely tough loss against Indian Hills, really proud of how our guys responded," said Coach Patrick Smith, "Great win over Mineral Area and feel like we are playing our best basketball of the season. We need to finish strong this week and get ready for post season. However, we have so much to play for starting tonight against West Plains and so much that can be accomplished this week."
The #16 ranked Greyhounds are currently 22-6 overall, 9-2 in the Region and leading in the MCCAC with a 15-2 record. They will host West Plains tonight on Wednesday, February 28 at 7 pm for Sophomore night.
