MACC GREYHOUNDS DEFEAT SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS 82-64
#16 ranked MACC improves to 8-3 record
The Moberly Area Community College Men's Basketball Team defeated Southwestern Illinois Community College 82-64 in Belleville, Illinois on Thursday, December 7. The Greyhounds gained a 33-31 halftime advantage they eventually stretched to 68-43 and coasted to the victory. Sophomore Tekao Carpenter lead Moberly in scoring with 25 points(5-10 from three point range) while 6'7" freshman forward Tareeq Anderson added 11 rebounds with Xavier Sykes contributing 9 asissts.
"Very good road victory and we are continuing to get better," said Coach Patrick Smith, "I thought we played up and down the first half but found a consistency level the second half we need for close to 40 minutes. I feel like we are playing our best basketball of the season right now but at the same time, have so much room for improvement that we need to occur. Junior College Basketball is divided into two separate seasons basically with the Christmas break and we really need to finish up the first semester by being the best basketball team we have been all season."
Moberly is ranked 16th in the latest NJCAA National Poll with an 8-3 record and 6 wins in their last 7 games. The Greyhounds will finish their first semester schedule by playing in the Highland (IL) Comm. College Invitational Tournament on Dec. 15-16 in Freeport, Illinois.
