Jalisa Mitchell joined the Greyhounds for the 2018-2019 season. Coach Mitchell spent the previous season as Head Junior Varsity and Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Whitfield School in St. Louis, Missouri. The Whitfield Warriors has reached the state final four, four years in a row. The Warriors won 3rd place in the Missouri Class 3A 2018 State Championship.
Mitchell graduated from Harris Stowe State University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration emphasis in entrepreneurship. While at Harris Stowe she was inducted into the National Society of Leadership. She played two years for the Hornet’s as shooting guard and small forward. As a senior, she helped the Hornet’s reach a 19-13 win season and most program wins since 2007.
Prior to graduating from Harris Stowe State University, Mitchell attended and played basketball at John Wood Community College (2012-2013), Saint Louis Community College (2013-2014) were she was integral in helping the Lady Archers to a Region XVI championship game.
After graduating from Harris Stowe, Mitchell serves as an assistant coach for the St. Louis Lady Eagles 7th and 8th grade teams which is an extension of Bradley Beal Elite.
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Mitchell attended Lutheran High School North as a four-year varsity letter winner, starter and captain. As a junior she was the 3rd leading scorer and rebounder. Senior year she improved to 2nd leading scorer and rebounder while earning 1st team all-conference honorable mention and 2nd team metro league all conference. While at Lutheran North she participated in golf from 2008-2010 and track and field from 2010-2012 throwing shot put and discus. She is the 3rd all-time leading shot put distance of 31’0 and 3rd all-time leading discus distance of 91’0.
