Angelica Wiggins, a 5-9 sophomore guard from Toronto, Canada, has been named the NJCAA Region 16 Player of the Week for January 8th-14th. Wiggins has been a steady force all season in helping Moberly Area Community College to their 18-0 start. She is currently second on the team in scoring average and leads the team in three point field goal percentage.
Last week Wiggins was instrumental in leading the 7th ranked Lady Greyhounds to two big wins. On Tuesday, she scored 18 points as she connected on eight of 14 field goals, including two of three shots from behind the arc, as MACC went on the road and picked up a 94-79 victory at NJCAA Division II 6th ranked St. Louis Community College. Wiggins finished with three rebounds and five assists in 31 minutes against the Lady Archers.
On Friday, Wiggins helped the Lady Greyhounds to an 81-49 victory as they opened NJCAA Region 16 play at home against Three Rivers College. In 30 minutes of action she scored 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out seven assists. It was her first career double-double at MACC.
For the week, Wiggins shot 48 percent from the field overall and five of 10 from three point range as she averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, six assists, and added three blocked shots
