Brianna Perry, a 5’9” guard from Alpharetta, Georgia, became the most recent member of the 2017-2018 Moberly Area Community College Women’s Basketball program to sign with a four-year program as she committed to NCAA Division II Georgia Southwestern State University earlier this week.
Perry, who never missed a game during her two seasons with the Lady Greyhounds and started in all but one contest, was named second team All-Region 16 and second team All-Conference this past season. She was a first team All-Conference selection following her freshman campaign when she averaged 10 points, two rebounds, two assists, and just under two steals per game as she led MACC in both three point field goals made and steals.
As a sophomore Perry served as a team captain and averaged eight points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals, while ranking 28th in the nation with a 2.4 assist to turnover ratio. She scored 559 career points and connected on 44 percent of her field goal attempts during her career as a Lady Greyhound, while registering a career high 36 points against Jefferson College in her last home game this past season.
“I’m really happy for Bri,” said MACC head women’s basketball coach Chad Killinger. “She was patient throughout the recruiting process and trusted that we would help her find a good situation as far as fit was concerned. She is a tremendous young woman, and I know that she will make the most of this opportunity. She is the type of person that shows up every day and does what is asked of her. We will definitely miss her and the consistent approach that she brought.”
Six of the eight sophomores from the Lady Greyhound roster have now received full scholarships for the 2018-2019 season with both Sentreal Gregory and Jocelyn Taylor expected to make their decisions in the near future.
