MOBERLY GREYHOUNDS IMPROVE TO 3-0 WITH VICTORY

Defeats John Wood CC 115-68 Tuesday evening.

The Moberly Area Community College Men’s Basketball Team defeated John Wood Comm. College 115-68 on Tuesday evening at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena.  Moberly jumped out to an early start behind some pressure defense and Sincere Parker scoring 30 first half points to lead 58-31 at the half. Parker scored 37 points for a career high to lead the Greyhounds while 6’8”, 240 lb. post Dorian Staples added 21 points and 10 rebounds. PG  Tyren Moore contributed 10 assists  while 6’10” post Jimmy Bell had 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.  Whiteman lead John Wood with 22 points and Snow scored 13 points.

“Lots of very positive performances from this game,” said Coach Pat Smith, “John Wood is very skilled and really executes  on offense, so we needed to be as solid and disruptive as we could be on defense.  I felt we did this for the most part and had a nice flow/pace on offense.  Now we’re onto a very tough part of our schedule and playing this weekend in the Iowa-Missouri challenge.  We play a very good Southeastern Iowa squad on Friday that is so athletic and does numerous areas of the game well.  We look forward to the challenge and improving the next three days.”

Moberly improved to 3-0 on the season while John Wood drops to 2-1.  Moberly returns to the hardwood this Friday on the road at Southeastern Iowa in West Burlington, Iowa in the Iowa-Missouri Challenge with an 8 pm tip off.
