The first half was a back and forth battle with Mineral Area taking a 28-26 lead at the break. Mineral Area came out and opened up a 43-38 lead and from then on the game was within four points both ways in regulation. Moberly rode the hot three point shooting of Randy Miller, Jr. and Dallas Morgan in the second half. Both teams had chances to win in regulation in the last 15 seconds but neither team could convert. IN overtime, Mineral scored the first two points but then Moberly answered with 6 straight points to gain a lead they would not surrender. 6’7” sophomore forward Tyree White lead Moberly in scoring with 17 points and 14 rebounds, Miller had 15 points(three made treys) and Morgan added 13 points(3 treys). Moberly improved to 18-3 overall and 3-0 in Region 16 while Mineral Area dropped to 16-5 and 1-2 in regional play.

“This was just a very tough, competitive college basketball game,” said Coach Patrick Smith, “It seems every time we play MAC it just becomes a possession by possession, grind it out game. I know they really guarded us well and feel we gave a very solid defensive performance. Very proud of our players for the effort and togetherness they showed tonight against a very good Mineral team. We had some rebounding problems and offensive flow problems the first half, think we did a much better job the second half to put us in position to get the win. Now it’s onto another big week in our season.”

The 19th ranked Moberly squad will return to action on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm when they host the Graceland University JV Team at 7:00 PM.
