MOBERLY GREYHOUNDS DEFEAT METROPOLITIAN CC 117-75

Improves record to 4-1 on season

2/3/2021
The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball Team defeated Metropolitan CC 117-75 in Kansas City on Tuesday evening. Moberly jumped out to a 55-34 halftime lead and blew the game open to start the second half. Sophomore guard Dezi Jones lead Moberly in scoring with a career high of 30 points (4-9 on three pointers), 6’6” freshman forward Makalani Kafele added 13 points along with 8 rebounds, Freshman guard Tyren Moore scored 13 points(4-7 on treys), freshman PG Jordan Persad contributed 13 points (3-3 on three pointers) and 6’5” sophomore forward Aaron Burt scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Travis Carson lead Metro with 26 points while Matthew Garcia scored 16 points.

“Coming off a tough loss vs. a real good Link Year team,” said Coach Pat Smith, “this was a very nice win to get back on track. We broke down the Link Year video and know there’s things we did that sabotaged our chances to be successful and win that game. We have to be better on Defensive Transition, not break down ½ court defensively, get much better on our defensive glass and continually execute better on offense to get the shots and attacks that benefit our scoring. We have to keep improving as we have a very tough schedule starting this weekend.”

Moberly returns to action this weekend in the MACC Classic as they play Sunrise Christian Academy on Friday and Triton College Saturday with both game times at 7 pm. The Triton game will be sponsored by RG Mongler Real Estate.
