MOBERLY BASKETBALL TEAMS TO PLAY IN NJCAA REGION 16 TOURNAMENT

The Moberly Area Comm. College Women’s and Basketball Teams will participate in the NJCAA Region 16 Tournament to be held at Lincoln University in Jefferson City during March 1-3.

The Moberly Area Comm. College Women’s and Basketball Teams will participate in the NJCAA Region 16 Tournament to be held at Lincoln University in Jefferson City during March 1-3. Both teams will enter as #1 seeds after both squads went undefeated in Regional regular season competition. The Lady Greyhounds posted an overall record of 29-0 with region mark of 10-0 and are currently ranked #4 in the NJCAA National Rankings. They will play Thursday at 1:00 PM vs. the winner of State Fair and Mineral Area to be held at Park Hills, Missouri on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The championship game for the Women’s Division I will be Saturday at 1:00 pm.

The Greyhound Men currently stand 26-4 at the end of the regular season with a region record of 8-0 and are ranked #11 in the final NJCAA Poll. They will play Thursday at 6:00 pm vs. the winner of the Three Rivers at Missouri State West Plains contest to be held Tuesday evening. The championship of the Men’s Division I bracket will be Saturday at 3:00 PM.

“I want to congratulate our Women’s squad and coaching staff for just an unbelievable feat in going undefeated,” said Coach Patrick Smith, “the focus, concentration and consistency it takes to accomplish that goal I applaud. However, it’s now onto the regional tournament and that’s what it is all about for both teams. I’m very proud of our accomplishments but now we must turn the page and get ready for the post season. Can’t wait to see our fans at Jeff City Thursday and just appreciate the support both programs receive from our college and community.”

MOBERLY, MO:   The MACC Greyhounds opened their 2022-23 basketball season in the Orscheln Classic splitting two games as they defeated Link Year Prep 93-60 but were defeated in the
