COACH SMITH:

“It was a crazy start to region play with three games in five day on top of the different start to the season we’ve had this year. Mineral Area is currently the benchmark of our region so far this season and while we did some things well and put us in position to be competitive, we couldn’t finish the task. We lost our way the second half and thought a lot of bad offensive possessions contributed to our downfall. We must find a way to be more consistent and to put it bluntly, not go from playing pretty good to playing bad. We needed to come back against a good Three Rivers team and while we got off to a great start, obviously once again did not maintain the consistency we needed to maintain our good play and lead. However, our players did a tremendous job of finishing the job and closing the game out and we really needed that. Against West Plains, we needed to go on the road and get a key win. However, we just couldn’t stop them the first half and they are really good offensively. Very pleased for the most part with our play the second half and just thought our bench was a great asset to our play and closing the game out. To go 2-1 to start the Regional play is very good for our team and we are capable of getting a lot better and we need to be seeking that level to become the team we are capable of.”

Moberly currently stands 9-3 on the season and will return to action this Saturday in a home Region 16 match up with State Fair CC at 7 pm.
