Improves to 6-2 on season

2/10/2021
The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball team came from behind and defeated North Central Missouri 110-108 in OT on Tuesday evening at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Moberly fell behind by 12 points during the first half but came back within 40-42 at the half. After trailing by 11 points during the second stanza, Moberly battled back and tied the game at 97 all on two free throws by freshman wing Makalani Kafele with 2.7 seconds left in regulation. Moberly took control early in overtime and held on for the victory. Frosh. wing Sincere Parker lead Moberly in scoring with 24 points(6-14 from 3 point range), soph. PG Dezi Jones added 23 points(3 made treys), Soph. Forward Cortez Mosely had 17 points(8-8 from the FT line), Soph. wing Jalen Cincore contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds and Frosh. guard Tyren Moore scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Butler lead North Central in scoring with 41 points while Shaw added 20 points and Andrews added 15 points.

“I guess it was a great game to watch as a spectator, much better than to coach in,” said Moberly Coach Pat Smith, “I give North Central just a ton of credit, they are a very good/well coached team who just played extremely well. I give our guys so much credit for hanging in there and toughing out a win on a night when things weren’t going very well. With that said, we have a long way to go and must be making progress in every area of our system. It’s always a lot better to build off a win than the alternative so we’ll proceed and seek individual and team improvements.”

Moberly improved to 6-2 on the season while North Central dropped to 3-3 on the season. MACC returns to action this Saturday, February 13 with a women’s/men’s doubleheader against Metropolitan CC at 2 and 4 pm.
