Moberly Area Community College has named Matt Bauer its inaugural head softball coach. Bauer holds a MA in Sport Management from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN, and a BS in Corporate and Community Fitness from North Dakota State University.
Having coached softball for more than thirteen years, Bauer has a wealth of experience. Recently, he was the head softball coach at Frazee High School located in Frazee, Minnesota. With Bauer coaching Frazee High School, the program achieved Gold Academic Team status for 3 straight years, tied for most wins in program history, back-to-back 3rd place finishes in the section, and 2nd place in the conference. Besides coaching high school athletics, Bauer also coached a club team that had back-to-back state runner-up finishes in its category out of Frazee, MN.
“Greyhound Softball is in great hands with Matt. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the program, and I am confident that he will lead these ladies to success during their debut season in this brand-new softball program,” says MACC President Jeff Lashley.
“I would like to thank the interview committee; Dr. Lashley, Michele McCall, Pat Smith, and Hana Haden for giving me this great opportunity,” says Bauer, “this is a fantastic opportunity; to be able to start a softball program and build it from the ground up is something most coaches
only dream of. I am very grateful for this opportunity and know we will build a successful program that MACC and the community will be proud of!”
Matt and his wife Joyce recently relocated to Moberly, Missouri. They have three daughters, Desiree (23), Savanna (20), and Alexis (19).
