Jalen Cincore joins Greyhounds
The Moberly Area Community College Men’s Basketball Team has announced the signing of Jalen Cincore to an NJCAA LOI for the spring semester, 2021. Cincore is a 6’6”, 185 lb. wing who is from Bartlett, Tennessee who will be transferring to MACC from NCAA Division I Georgia Southern. As a high school senior, Cincore was ranked as a Top 10 player in the State of Tennessee and lead Bartlett to a 32-3 record while averaging 11 points per game. He also played for the Tennessee Panthers AAA squad after his senior season and averaged 24 ppg.
“We are very excited to have Jalen join our program,” said Coach Patrick Smith, “He’s a very explosive, athletic player who can play multiple positions both offensively and defensively. He’s a tremendous competitor who will only help our squad this upcoming season and a perfect fit for our system and how we play.”
Smith stated that the MACC Men’s players will be returning after Christmas to start practice on January 4 for the start of their 22 game regular season which begins January 22. NJCAA players will not lose any eligibility for their participation this season due to season format changes.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about the start of practice and getting to our season,” said Smith, “I really like the potential of this team based on what I know about us, but we are going to have to be ready to ramp it up in terms of preparation, conditioning, system and mindset every day. I relish the challenge of helping our team get there and want it to be sooner than later. WE are 41-4 the last two seasons from mid-year on along with 20-1 in region play once we get good at what we do. Well, we need to get there quicker this season and nothing changes as we pursue championships. We fully realize the challenges that we and all teams face this season while doing what we have to do to be safe in every aspect with health concerns.”
Moberly finished the 19-20 season with a 27-6 record, Co- Region 16 and MCCAC Champs, Region 16 Tournament Champions and Midwest District Champs but unable to participate in the NJCAA National Tournament due to cancellation. The Greyhounds open up their season on January 22 by participating in the West Plains Classic.
