The Moberly Area Community College Women’s Basketball Team defeated Metropolitan CC 66-53 in Kansas City, Missouri on Wednesday evening. After a slow start to the first quarter, Moberly eventually extended the score to a 17 point going into the half. Redshirt freshman Darryn Zeigler led the Lady Greyhounds for the second straight game with 18 points off the bench, including four three-pointers. Freshman DeAnna Wilson and sophomore Shania Liburd both added 11 points and freshman Kori Tomlin chipped in 8 points.
“This was not one of our better scoring outputs this season but we got the job done on the defensive end, holding them to 24 points at half and 53 for the game. I’m glad to see us continue to get players stepping up in different games, with Darryn Zeigler having her second great game in a row. Our depth and the versatility of our line ups has been a strength for us so far this season and hopefully it will continue to help us down the stretch,” said Coach Hana Haden.
Moberly improved to 23-4 on the season with this being their sixth straight win. They are currently 7-1 in the MCCAC Conference and 5-1 in Region 16. Moberly returns to action with a Region 16 contest on Saturday, February 15 at home against State Fair CC at 5:00 pm.
