“Just a tremendous effort by a bunch of young men who play so hard and trust our process along with each other,” said Coach Pat Smith, “It’s tough to repeat as regional champs, especially with just one player back from last year’s really good team. I thought our defense was really good, we moved the ball exceptionally well and we continued to just get solid contributions from all of our nine man rotation. We seized momemtum the first half and never let off the throttle. The best part about our situation is we’re still playing, get to practice this week and have everything under our control with the District Championship coming up and trying to get back to Hutch. Mineral Area is a really good team and just take a lot of pride in the performance of our guys Saturday evening along with the entire semester.”
Moberly improved to 26-6 on the season with their sixth straight victory, 16th win in last 18 games and currently ranked #19 nationally. Mineral Area dropped to 30-2 with the loss with both defeats coming to Moberly. Moberly will host the winner of Region 4(Triton vs. Highland) on Saturday evening at 7 pm at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena.
