The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball Team was ranked 10th nationally pre-season in the Street and Smith Basketball Magazine. The top 10 are as follows:

  1. Vincennes
  2. Tallahassee
  3. John Logan
  4. Florida Southwestern
  5. Ranger
  6. Coffeyville
  7. Eastern Florida
  8. Indian Hills
  9. Daytona State
  10. Moberly

Moberly only returns one player, Markelo Sullivan, from last season’s 28-7 team which made the NJCAA Sweet 16 and won five championships. However, Smith’s squad of two redshirt returnees, 4 transfers and 8 freshman are ready to accept the challenges that lie ahead.

“Kind of surprised by the high ranking,” said Smith, “However, think it’s a product of the Moberly tradition and the success we’ve enjoyed the last few years. With that said, the Moberly way is to pursue championships and our ultimate goal is to be playing Saturday in Hutchinson, Kansas. With that said, it’s a tough road to get there but can’t wait for the journey and the process we must embrace to become the team we want too. I define potential as what you’ve not accomplished yet and that’s kind of how I look at this team in September; A team that could be very good but must be working hard every single day to get there.”
