Parker lead the Greyhounds with 18 points and 6 rebounds, 6’4” wing Michael Thomas scored 14 points with 5 rebounds, 6’10” post Jimmy Bell had 13 points to go with 16 rebounds while6’6” forwards Makalani Kafele and Jo Jo Toppin had 8 rebounds each. Strickland lead Three Rivers with 13 points and Kiner added 11 points.
“Very proud of the effort and purpose our players played with for 40 minutes,” said Coach Patrick Smith, “I thought our defensive effort against a really good team who’s been playing well was outstanding in all areas, including finalizing with defensive rebounds. We held them to 31% from the field, 28% from 3 points range and also had 19 offensive rebounds which will allow you to be successful on any night. I thought our offense got very stagnant the second half with some wasted possessions and we must get more attack oriented with player and ball movement. However, a great win against a quality team but we must get back to the lab and continue seeking progress and improvement.”
Moberly improved to 21-6 overall with their 5th consecutive victory while improving to 7-3 in Region 16. Three Rivers is now 15-10 overall and 5-5 in Regional competition. Moberly will now host West Plains on Saturday, February 12 with game time at 7:00 pm. Prior to the contest, MACC Basketball will honor the late Jim Mayfield for his contributions to the Basketball Program and College over the years as well as honor the Greyhound sophomores at the completion of the game.
