MACC GREYHOUNDS DEFEAT STATE FAIR 88-55

The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball Team posted their 9th straight win as they defeated State Fair CC 88-55 on Wednesday evening at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena.

The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball Team posted their 9th straight win as they defeated State Fair CC 88-55 on Wednesday evening at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Moberly jumped out to an early 27-13 lead they eventually stretched to 42-24 at the half. After having the lead cut to 13 points at the 15:00 mark, Moberly went on a 16-3 run to extend their lead and were not threatened again. Wing Tahj Small tied his career high with 30 points(7-13 on three pointers) along with 6 offensive rebounds, PG Alonzo Verge had 22 points and 8 assists while Sean Miller-Moore continued his fine play with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Damaria Franklin lead State Fair with 16 points.

“In the early parts of the season, we were very poor defensively and in terms of offensive execution,” said Coach Pat Smith, “Coincidentally, our team improvement has been directly related to improvement in those two areas. Great defensive performance by our guys tonight, both individually and team wise. Still areas we can do better, especially in eliminating execution mistakes and bad possessions. However, we’ve made a lot of progress and now it’s onto the next game.”

Moberly improved to 16-5 overall and 2-0 in Region play with the victory while State Fair drops to 8-10 and 0-2 in Region 16.
