Improve to 16-4 with 7th consecutive victory.
The Moberly Area Community College Men’s Basketball Team defeated State Fair CC 76-59 in Sedalia on Wednesday evening in NJCAA Region 16 action. Moberly jumped out to a 33-19 lead but saw that advantage cut to 33-27 at the half. The Greyhounds came out and opened up 39-27 lead to start the second half and was never threatened after that in eventually stretching the lead to 20 points. Sincere Parker lead Moberly in scoring with 19 points, PG Tyren Moore had 15 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists while forward Makalani Kafele posted 11 points and 7 rebounds. Post Jimmy Bell had an outstanding game with 8 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. State Fair was lead in scoring by Will Wilson with 15 points with Caleb Mills adding 12 points.
“I was very pleased with how we approached this game and the defensive intensity we displayed throughout the game,” said Coach Patrick Smith, “ We had a couple of dry offensive stages but kept guarding and rebounding which got us through a key region game on the road. This team has come a long way, we still have a lot of improvement which can occur and can’t wait to get back at it for the next challenge. I give a lot of credit to my assistant coaches and players for getting ready to play this game.”
Moberly improves to 16-4 on the season with their 7th consecutive victory and a 3-1 Region 16 record. State Fair drops to 13-7 on the season with 1-3 in Region 16. The Greyhounds return to the court Saturday when they play #16 nationally ranked Mineral Area on the road at Park Hills, Missouri at 7:00 pm.
