7th straight win and opening MCCAC victory
The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball Team defeated St. Louis Comm. College 112-75 on Tuesday evening at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Moberly lead 52-39 at the half and blew the game openp early in the second half eventually stretching the lead to 41 points. Moberly was lead in scoring by Alonzo Verge with 33 points while fellow sophomore Sean Miller-Moore had a career high 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists along with frosh. guard Markelo Sullivan adding 13 points.
“Thought we really picked it up in the second half, especially on the defensive end,” said Coach Pat Smith, Good to get our opening conference win and now it’s onto the start of Region 16 play against Three Rivers Saturday night. A good win in that everyone contributed, tremendous offensive performance by Zo and Sean in all areas. What really determines a team’s ultimate level is their ability to continue to improve throughout the process and we must continue to elevate.”
Moberly stretched their winning streak to 7 games and improved to 14-5 on the season. They will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 12 as they host Region 16 foe Three Rivers at 7:00 pm. The game will be sponsored by Chuck and Evelyn Jorgenson and serve as a reunion game for former Greyhounds.
