3rd straight victory for NJCAA #21 ranked team
The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball Team defeated Metropolitan CC 115-71 on Wednesday evening at the the Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Moberly jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and eventually lead 48-35 at the half. Moberly went on a 15-3 run to start the second half and were never threatened. 6’5’ Frosh. Cortez Mosely lead Moberly in scoring with 23 points, 6’3” soph. guard Markelo Sullivan added 18 points(4 made treys), Eddie Creal and Tyrek Chambers scored 16 points each while 6’10” soph. post Dusan Mahorcic and Quinton Drayton contributed 11 points each. Wright lead Metropolitan CC in scoring with 18 points while Mgbemena added 14 points.
“I thought we came out really well but lost some of our intensity and substance as the first half went on,” said Coach Pat Smith, “However, really pleased at how we came out to start the second half and sustained throughout most of the remainder of the game. Big week for the Greyhounds and it only gets tougher now as we head into our Thanksgiving Classic against a very good Highland CC(Illinois) squad. Very pleased with where we are now but got to keep seeking the next level of togetherness, effort and execution.”
Moberly improved to 7-2 with the victory and are currently ranked #21 in latest NJCAA Poll while Metropolitan CC dropped to 3-6. Moberly returns to action this Friday in the MACC Thanksgiving Classic at 7 pm against top Region IV opponent Highland CC and will play #14 ranked Indian Hills Saturday evening at 7 pm as well.
