Improves record to 21-6 on season
The Moberly Area Community College Men’s Basketball Team defeated Metropolitian CC 109-93 in Kansas City, Missouri on Wednesday evening. Moberly jumped to an early 18-3 lead and then lead 63-46 at the half. They were never threatened the second half, eventually stretching the lead to 24 points. Moberly was lead in scoring by Tyrek Chambers with 24 points(4-9 on treys) along with 5 assists, Cortez Mosely had 17 points and 8 rebounds, Dezi Jones scored 16 points, Quinton Drayton and Eddie Creal added 12 points each while Dusan Mahorcic and Markelo Sullivan contributed 10 points each. Mgbemma and Frenk scored 20 points each to lead Metropolitan and Garcia added 17 points.
“Good team win coming off a tough loss at Indian Hills,” said Coach Pat Smith, “Thought we did a very good job of playing fast on offense and really moving, sharing the basketball. Continue to play too up and down, must become more consistent on the defensive end. At this time of year, you have to be working on playing your best basketball and hopefully that’s what we’re approaching. Now we get to pursue a couple of regular season championships(Region and Conference) in our last three regular season contests.”
Moberly improved to 21-6 on the season with their 11 th win in their last 13 games. They are currently 7-1 in the MCCAC Conference and 5-1 in Region 16. Moberly returns to action with a Region 16 contest on Saturday, February 15 at home against State Fair CC at 7:00 pm. Metropolitan dropped to 9-13 with the loss.
