MACC GREYHOUND ALONZO VERGE, JR. NJCAA PLAYER OF WEEK

Moberly Area Community College Freshman Point Guard Alonzo Verge, Jr. has been named as the NJCAA National Player of the Week for the period of Dec. 3-10.

Freshman PG leads Hounds to Highland Tourney Title

Moberly Area Community College Freshman Point Guard Alonzo Verge, Jr. has been named as the NJCAA National Player of the Week for the period of Dec. 3-10. In the Highland CC William Bear Invitational Tournament in Freeport, Illinois Verge lead Moberly to the championship by defeating Iowa Centrals(102-80), Marshalltown (87-75) and in the finals vs. host Highland(93-90 in ot). During the three games Verge averaged 37.6 points per game, 9 assists and 6 rebounds in being named the Tournament MVP. He also scored a school record 51 points against Highland in the finals including 40 points during their second half comeback. Verge is a 6’3″ Freshman from Chicago Thornton High School.

MACC is currently 13-1 and ranked #9 in the latest NJCAA National Poll.
