Head Coach Hana Haden has announced the first additions to the Lady Greyhound program in Belleville East High School (Illinois) seniors B’Aunce Carter and Bryce Dowell.
“We are very excited about the addition of B’Aunce Carter and Bryce Dowell. Both young ladies reached the 1,000 point milestone in their careers and have been All-Conference, All-District, and All-State selections. The two led their team to a 20-13 overall record and a third place finish in conference in their senior season.”
B’Aunce Carter is a 5’11 forward also from Belleville, Illinois. She was an IBCA third team All-State selection her junior season as well as All-Conference and All-Area both her junior and senior seasons. Her senior year she averaged 14.4PPG and 7RPG while shooting 55% from the floor and 78% from the FT line. Carter was named to the All-Tournament 1st Team of the 2019 Highland Shootout.
“We saw B’Aunce play several times this season and we did not see a game that she was not double-teamed on the block. She plays extremely hard and is an aggressive rebounder and scorer. She has exceptional footwork in the post which helped her navigate and score through the double teams all season. She is going to give us a huge presence inside.”
Bryce Dowell is a 5’6 shooting guard from Belleville, Illinois. She was named All-Conference in both her junior and senior seasons as well as 2019 IBCA 4A third-team All-State selection. She finished 6th in the St. Louis area in scoring her senior season, averaging 18.9PPG and shooting 42% from the floor, 36% from three point land, and 82% from the FT line. She is the 11th all-time scorer in Belleville East High School history. Dowell was named the tournament MVP of the 2019 Highland Shootout.
“Bryce is a scoring guard. She shoots it well from the three and can also put it on the floor, which fits great into our dribble-drive offense. She will thrive in our up-tempo offense that we found a lot of success in late in our last season. We are really excited, not only about her ability to score the ball, but her competitive edge and love for the game.”
“We are ecstatic to be able to add two high-caliber student athletes to our program. They come from a very good high school program where they have been well coached and played in some big games. They are both very invested in their education, basketball careers, and their futures. This will be my first time coaching two players from the same program but I have no doubt they will bring great chemistry as they played so well together in high school. Our staff has loved watching the energy and intensity that they compete with and we know our fans will enjoy it as well.”
Bryce and B’Aunce will both participate in the “Mo Betta Sports High School All Star Weekend” in St. Louis April 5-8th. The All-Star game will be held on Monday, April 8th at 6pm at the Matthew Dickey Center in St. Louis.
