The Moberly Area Community College Lady Greyhounds move to 15-3 and 1-0 in Region XVI play after a win over Three Rivers Community College on Friday, January 10th. The Lady Greyhounds found themselves trailing six points at halftime before outscoring the raiders 60 to 26 in the second half. Freshman DeAnna Wilson led all scorers with 20 points and also added 10 rebounds. Freshman Jamila “Zama” Nansikombi had a breakout game, scoring 17 points and pulling down 7 rebounds. Freshmen B’Aunce Carter and Bi’Anna Pettis added 14 and 11 points, respectively.
“I’m really proud of how our team regrouped after a sloppy first half. We came out with great focus and energy in the second half and really battled to come out with the win. We are beginning to see some things come together for our team, but we also have several things we need to clean up,” said Coach Hana Haden.
The win over Three Rivers is the 5th consecutive victory for the Lady Greyhounds who have now won 10 out of their last 12 games. They are currently ranked 8th in scoring defense, holding teams to 50.4PPG and received votes in the most recent NJCAA Top 25 poll.
“The strength of our team so far has been our depth and versatility. We can go pretty deep in our bench and play different styles depending on what we need at that time. We need our kids to continue to buy into the concept that it can be anybody’s game on any given night. Everyone has to stay ready. They have done an exceptional job with that so far,” said Coach Haden.
The Lady Greyhounds are back in action in a Region XVI game versus State Fair Community College on Wednesday, January 15th in Sedalia Missouri.
