After a fall semester that saw them achieve a 3.22 team grade point average the women’s basketball program at Moberly Area Community College had five student-athletes named to the Dean’s List and a sixth who made the President’s List as they finished the spring semester with a 3.30 team g.p.a. A total of nine Greyhound women received a 3.0 or higher g.p.a. for the semester.
The Dean’s List recipients were Carnethia Brown, Anisha George, Alexis Henry, Shauna Rinehart, and Romekia Wallace with Angelice Kinney being named to the President’s List. In addition, Wallace was named a second team NJCAA Academic All-American, while both Kinney and Rinehart were named to the third team.
“We are extremely proud of the effort our team put into their academics,” said MACC head coach Chad Killinger. “We had a successful season and several of the girls were honored with All-Region and All-Conference awards for what they did on the court, but the recognition they have received from an academic standpoint is every bit as important to me.”
The Greyhound Women finished the academic year with a 3.26 team g.p.a., based on NJCAA qualifications, and were named honorable mention for the Academic Team of the Year Award for women’s basketball. MACC was also ranked 6th in the country on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Honor Roll, which was named earlier this week.
“It was great to see this group stay focused on their academics after the season ended and just incredible to have nine Dean’s List recipients and two President’s List recipients this past year,” said Killinger. “We take a lot of pride in our academic image and these young ladies represented our program well.”
