Anisha George, a 6-2 sophomore post from St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, was named the NJCAA Region 16 Player of the Week for January 15th-21st. George has recorded eight double-doubles on the season, including two last week against Region 16 opponents. She currently leads the team in scoring and rebounding, while ranking 2nd nationally in field goal percentage and earned Region Player of the Week honors earlier this season for the period of November 20th-26th.

Despite battling foul trouble at State Fair George went six for 11 from the field and four of six from the free throw line as she scored 16 points in just 11 minutes of playing time. She also registered 14 rebounds and one blocked shot as the Lady Greyhounds ended an eight game losing streak to the Lady Roadrunners by a score of 67-51.

On Saturday, MACC hosted defending Region 16 Tournament Champion Mineral Area College and George made the most of her 25 minutes on the court. She scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while also adding one assist, two steals, and two blocks in an 80-47 victory over the Lady Cardinals.

For the week, George averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds per game as she shot 55 percent from the field and 67 percent from the free throw line as the 7th ranked Lady Greyhounds improved to 20-0 on the season.
