One day after being named the Player of the Week for NJCAA Region 16 Moberly Area Community College’s Anisha George was named the NJCAA Division I National Player of the Week for her performance on the hardwood last week.
George, who is currently ranked 7th in the nation in field goal percentage and 12th in total blocked shots, averaged a double-double as the Lady Greyhounds went 3-0 on the week to improve to 9-0 on the season.
MACC defeated MCC-Penn Valley, 100-66, on Tuesday and swept the competition in the annual Midwest Bone & Joint Center Classic with an 80-78 overtime victory against #14 Wabash Valley College and a 105-36 win over Shawnee Community College. George just missed recording three double-doubles for the week as she came up one rebound shy against Penn Valley.
George, a 6’2″ Center from the Virgin Islands, had 9 boards and 14 points in 20 minutes of action in the Penn Valley game. She followed up that performance with 24 points and 15 rebounds in 30 minutes against nationally ranked Wabash Valley, scoring five of the team’s seven points in the extra period to propel the Lady Greyhounds to victory. She capped off the week with a 22 point, 10 rebound effort against Shawnee in 19 minutes of playing time. George now has three double-doubles in nine games this season. For the week, she shot 61% from the field as she made 25 of her 41 attempts, 76.9% from the FT line (10-13), to go along with 2 assists, 6 steals, and 7 blocked shots.
