Carnethia Brown, a 5-6 sophomore point guard from Louisville, Kentucky, was named the NJCAA Region 16 Player of the Week for January 22nd-28th. Brown has scored in double figures in four of her last five games, raising her scoring average to 11.5 points per game in the process.
Last Wednesday, Brown scored 18 points as she went seven of 13 from the field and connected on four of eight three point shots in a 71-41 win at Jefferson College. She also had four assists and two steals against the Lady Vikings.
Brown followed up that performance with a season high 23 points at Three Rivers Community College on Saturday, including 18 points in the first half. She also registered four steals and three assists, while shooting eight of 18 from the field and knocking down four of her eight three point attempts in the 76-63 victory.
For the week, Brown averaged 20.5 points and shot 15 of 31 from the floor in 25 minutes per game as the 6th ranked Lady Greyhounds improved to 22-0 on the season.
