LADY GREYHOUNDS MOVE PAST CROWDER FOR WIN NUMBER TWENTY-FIVE

The Moberly Area Community College Women’s Basketball Team defeated Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri 93-68 on Wednesday, February 19th. Freshman DeAnna Wilson scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Sophomore Chatori Tyler also scored 20 points, shooting 4-7 from three point land and freshman Bryce Dowell added 19 points, shooting 4-4 from three. The Lady Greyhounds jumped out to a big lead in the first half, going into halftime with a 60-26 lead.

“I thought our team did a great job of using our pressure defensively to create our offense. We committed to being disruptive and it allowed for lots of easy points in transition. I’m also really proud of this group’s willingness to continue to work and improve this season.”

The win vs Crowder moves Moberly to 25-4 on the season and 8-1 in Region XVI play. The Lady Greyhounds will compete in their final regular season game at home this Saturday, February 22nd at 2:00pm. This game will be the “Sophomore Day” acknowledgment for Taylor Lawson-Hicks, Shania Liburd, Kaysie Newson, Chatori Tyler, and Darryn Zeigler.

 

MACC GREYHOUNDS DEFEAT LINK YEAR PREP 103-73

#23 Hounds improve to 23-6

The Moberly Area Community College Men’s Basketball Team defeated Link Year Prep 103-73 on Tuesday evening at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Moberly jumped out to a 45-25 halftime lead and eventually stretched the lead to 36 points before coasting to the final margin. Moberly was lead in scoring by Tyrek Chambers with 24 points, Quinton Drayton had 19 points, Markelo Sullivan scored l17 points along with 14 rebounds and Eddie Creal added 16 points along with 10 rebounds.

“A very good team win, did some real positive things,” said Coach Pat Smith, “Thought the first half we really guarded and took pride in getting stops. However, didn’t come close to defending as well the second half and that’s where our inconsistency shows. Offensively we were very good and must continue to progress on the defensive end.”

Moberly currently stands 23-6 on the season, 8-1 in the MCCAC and 6-1 in Region 16 while being ranked #23 in the NJCAA National Poll. They finish their regular season at West Plains on Saturday at 7 pm.
