After a season that saw her receive multiple awards for her performance on the court for the Moberly Area Community College women’s basketball team, Anisha George received more good news this week as MACC head coach Chad Killinger received a letter from the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame requesting George’s #42 jersey as part of their “Ring of Honor” display for the 2018-2019 season. Alexis Newbolt, who was an NJCAA third team All-American and WBCA honorable mention All-American following the 2013-2014 season, is the most recent Lady Greyhound to have had her jersey placed in the Ring of Honor.

Following each season the Hall of Fame, located in Knoxville, TN, recognizes a select group of high school and college players for their achievements in the sport as they fulfill their mission to “honor the past, celebrate the present, and promote the future” of women’s basketball. There are currently over 100 jerseys hanging in the Ring of Honor from the 2016-2017 season.

George, who is currently in the process of deciding what school she will attend to finish her career, was named a second team NJCAA All-American, as well as an honorable mention Women’s Basketball Coaches All-American, following her sophomore campaign for the Lady Greyhounds. She also received the Player of the Year Award for NJCAA Region 16 and led the voting for the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference first team.

“This is obviously an incredible honor for Anisha,” said Killinger. “I thought there might be a chance that we would receive a letter requesting her jersey and I was excited for her as soon as I saw it because I know how much she has had to adjust to over the past two years. It’s great to know that people have taken notice of her accomplishments and that all of the visitors to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame will have a chance to see that number forty two Moberly jersey hanging from the rafters in Knoxville.”
