wallaceThis past Monday Romekia Wallace announced her decision to continue her playing career at the University of Nebraska-Omaha for the 2017-18 season.

The NCAA Division I UNO women’s program competes in the Summit League and compiled a 16-15 overall record and went 8-8 in conference play this past season.

Wallace, a six foot forward, who spent her prep career at Cardinal Ritter High School in St. Louis, left her mark on the Moberly Area Community College women’s basketball program over the course of her two-year career. As a freshman, she was named WBCA honorable mention All-American, first team NJCAA All-Region 16, and was also selected to participate in the 2016 NJCAA All-Star Weekend.

This past season, despite missing almost a month of action with a broken finger, Wallace was named first team All-Region 16 as well as first team All-Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. She averaged 12.7 points and 10.2 rebounds during her two seasons at MACC, while finishing her career ranked ninth on the Greyhound Women’s career rebounding list and second in career rebounding average.

Wallace was named Co-Most Valuable Player for MACC, as well as the recipient of the Greyhound Award, following her freshman season and followed that up by being named the Triple Threat Award winner as a sophomore. The Triple Threat Award is given to a player that excels in three key areas of the women’s basketball program: athletics, academics and citizenship.

“Romekia did an incredible job for us over the past two seasons,” said MACC head coach Chad Killinger. “Not only did she excel on the court, but she was also named to both the Dean’s List and President’s List for her academics. She was generally the first person to volunteer for many of the community service projects that we participate in and, while it will be hard to see her leave, we are extremely proud and grateful to her for all that she has meant to Lady Greyhound Basketball.”
