Anna Stewart, from Moberly Area Community College, was named NJCAA Region 16 Division I Women’s Basketball Player of the Week (January 23-29). The 5’8” guard from Kennesaw, Georgia averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two Lady Greyhound victories last week.
In earning POTW honors, Stewart had a career high in points, 24, and rebounds with six, in a home win against Jefferson College, 75-66. She was nearly perfect with her shooting, missing only two out of the 18 shots she attempted. Stewart went 7-8 on FG's (1-1 from 3) and nailed nine of 10 free throw attempts for her game high 24 points. She also contributed six rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes. In their 62-57 overtime road win at, then, #25 ranked Three Rivers Community College, Anna continued her hot streak with a 15 point effort to help hand the Lady Raiders their first loss in region play. In that game, Stewart shot 50 percent from the field (7-14) and added 5 rebounds and two assists while logging 32 minutes of court time.
