Moberly Area Community College freshman Lunden Henry recorded her second straight double-double as the Greyhound Women defeated visiting Penn Valley Community College 80-55 on Tuesday night at Fitzsimmons-John Arena to improve to 7-1.

MACC took a 17-13 advantage after the first quarter of play and took their first double digit lead of the contest, 31-21, with just over three minutes remaining in the first half on a basket by Alisha Vinson. The Greyhound Women eventually took a 13 point, 37-24, lead into the halftime break as nine different players reached the scoring column and MACC forced 15 turnovers by the Lady Scouts.

The two teams traded baskets to start the second half, but the Greyhound Women went on a 10-0 run to extend their lead to 23, 49-26, with just under seven minutes to play in the third quarter and still held their 23 point advantage heading into the final quarter of play. MACC outscored Penn Valley 18-16 over the final 10 minutes of action in route to their 25 point margin of victory.

The Greyhound Women outrebounded Penn Valley 44-31 in the game, while shooting 44 percent from the field and recording 21 assists on 32 made field goals. “We did a lot of good things,” said MACC head coach Chad Killinger. “But, we still have a lot of room for improvement. We moved the ball pretty well and did as good a job as we have all season of translating what we wanted to do offensively from practice to the game.”

Lunden Henry led the Greyhound Women with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while adding four assists. She was joined in double figures by Anna Stewart and Anisha George, who finished with 10 points apiece. Stewart also recorded four assists. Alexis Henry contributed nine points and six rebounds, while Vinson had eight points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots. Carnethia Brown scored seven points, to go along with a team high five assists.

MACC will co-host the Midwest Bone & Joint Center Classic this coming weekend with the Greyhound men’s team. Five games will be played each day with the Greyhound Women hosting Lincoln Land Community College on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and Highland (IL) Community College on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
