georgeThe Moberly Area Community College Greyhound Women recently signed Anisha George from St. Croix Central High School in the Virgin Islands to a National Letter of Intent for the 2016-2017 season.

"Anisha is big and strong," said MACC head coach Chad Killinger. "She runs the floor well and can step outside and to knock down the mid-range jump shot, but we're expecting her to give us a consistent scoring threat in the paint to go along with Romekia (Wallace). She will face a little bit of an adjustment period as we get started in the fall, just like any other freshman, but she is a player that has the ability to help us immediately, while continuing to work towards her full potential."

George, a 6-2 post, was named the Player of the Year in the Virgin Islands this past season as she averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocked shots per game. Current Greyhound Women's assistant Clint Williams is a native of the Virgin Islands and his own experience helped lead George to Moberly.

"There was obviously an immediate connection between Coach Williams and Anisha," said Killinger. "He thought she reminded him a lot of himself coming out of high school and he had a pretty good collegiate career, so that was what initially sparked the interest. It will be fun to watch her continue to develop and I'm excited to see where she will end up after she is done playing at MACC."

George is the fifth official commitment for the Greyhound Women in the class of 2016, joining Alexis and Lunden Henry of Springfield (IL) Southeast High School, Brianna Perry of Centennial High School, located in Roswell, Georgia, and Carmari Lloyd of Rich East High School in Park Forest, Illinois.
