It was a record breaking performance by the Moberly Area Community College Women’s Basketball team on Wednesday night at Fitzsimmons-John Arena as they defeated Graceland University J.V. by a score of 117-20. The 97 point margin of victory surpasses the previous mark of 96 set January 30, 1997 against Forest Park.

“I have always told our teams that any time you can set a record at Moberly that you have really accomplished something special,” said MACC head coach Chad Killinger. “The program has such a proud tradition and there have been so many great teams and great players here that just being a part of the history of the program means a lot to me.”

Angelica Wiggins poured in a career high 27 points as she connected on 10 of 14 shots from the field and four of six three point attempts. TrEl’Shawn Smith came off the bench to notch her career high as well with 15 points. Sentreal Gregory had 14 points and five assists, and both Anisha George and Jocelyn Taylor added 12 points. Carnethia Brown had a game high eight assists, while collecting seven points, and seven steals. Chrishey Wilkes grabbed nine rebounds, while Lunden Henry secured eight boards.

The Lady Greyhounds shot just under 60 percent from the field and outrebounded Graceland 45-20.

“You never really know what to expect when you schedule a J.V. team,” said Killinger. “We had a long, long break in our schedule and we needed to play a game before we headed to Marshalltown this weekend. We were fortunate that we were able to get something scheduled and I’m proud of the approach our team took for this game.”

MACC will travel to Marshalltown, Iowa this weekend to participate in the Emerson Classic. The Lady Greyhounds are scheduled to play NJCAA Division II #15 Des Moines Area Community College on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and host Marshalltown Community College at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
