The Moberly Area Community College Men’s Basketball Team has signed three incoming freshman to their squad for the 2020-21 season. The new Greyhounds are 6’4”, 190 lb. wing Sincere Parker(Rockford, Illinois); 6’2’, 180 lb. Point Guard Jordan Persad from Scarborough, Ontario; and 6’6”, 210 lb. wing Jaylin McCants(Galesburg, Illinois). Parker played his junior season at Rockford East High School where he averaged 18.6 points per game along with 4.6 rebounds. He connected on 120 three pointers and leading his HS Team to the final 4 in the State Tournament. During Parker’s senior season he transferred to Arizona Compass Prep School where he averaged 15 ppg, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal per game.

Persad is a pure point guard who played for Oakville Prep School in Ontario. He averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 assists, 9.3 rebounds and 3 steals per game while leading the National Prep Association in both scoring and assists.

McCants is a 6’6” forward who lead Galesburg High School to a 29-4 record this past season and the Sectional Championship game. During his senior season he averaged 20.9 points per game along with 10.5 rebounds while being named to the Class 3A All State Second Team(Illinois). A three year starter at Galesburg, McCants finished with 1314 career points to rank 5th on the all time scoring list.

“We are so excited to have these three players join our Greyhound Program,” said Coach Pat Smith, “Not only are they very talented individual players, they all three come from winning programs which is huge when establishing your culture every season. Parker is just a lights out shooter in the mode of Tahj Small and Markelo Sullivan. He’s also a very good all around player who can play multiple positions. Persad is a true scoring point guard who can get his own shot and as evidenced by his stats, can really set others up as well with his playmaking abilities. He’s so good playing pick and roll basketball and a stat stuffer who does a little bit of everything. McCants just has sky high potential and was one of the top High School players in the State of Illinois. He’s so good with the ball in his hands so much like Eddie Creal and Sean Miller-Moore have been for us, as well as an exceptional athlete who really boards the ball. These three additions really improve our team at this point and with our returnees as well as previous signees, have our coaching staff very excited about our upcoming team. Of course, I’m sure every coach in the country feels this way at this time but do feel like we’ve had a very good recruiting season. However, we still have two more to sign and must make them count.”

Moberly finished last season with a 27-6 record, Region 16 Tournament Championship, Midwest District Champs, National Tournament Qualifier, Co MCCAC Regular Season Champs and final #17 NJCAA National Ranking. Last season marked the 5th straight season of 25 or more wins along with back to back Regional and District Championships.
