#12 ranked Hounds improve to 22-3 with road win

The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball Team went to Park Hills, Missouri on Saturday evening and defeated Mineral Area College 78-63. After falling behind 6-5, Moberly would never trail again on their way to a 41-29 halftime lead. The closest Mineral Area got the second half was 55-63 but a Randy Miller three pointer would up the lead that never got below double figures again. Miller lead MACC in scoring with 22 points, Billy Thomas had 17 points and JaQualis Matlock had 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Tyree White had 8 points and 9 rebounds with a strong performance. Lance Singh lead Mineral Area in scoring with 16 points, Jamie Ahale added 12 points(3 made treys) and Maurice Edwards added 11 points.

“It was one of our better games from start to finish against a very good team on the road,” said Coach Patrick Smith, “I thought defensively we were very solid against a good offensive team. This is the time of the year you want to be playing your best and our goal is to keep progressing to eliminate bad possessions. Now it’s onto a very good West Plains squad and the next game.”

The #12 nationally ranked Greyhounds currently stand 22-3 on the season with their 7th consecutive win while improving their NJCAA Region 16 record to 5-0. Mineral Area drops to 19-6 with the loss and 3-3 in regional play. Moberly returns to action this Wednesday with a home contest against West Plains College at 7:00 pm.
