Battle of ranked teams
The 14th nationally ranked Moberly Area CC Greyhounds were defeated by the 16th ranked Indian Hills Warriors 56-48 on Tuesday evening at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena on the Moberly campus. After jumping out to an early 13-5 lead, Moberly never found any offensive rhythym the remainder of the game as Indian Hills came back to lead 28-22 at the half. Moberly could not get any closer than 4 pts. the remainder of the game but never trailed by more than 12 points. Indian Hills had a 12-0 run at the end of the first half and start of second that turned out to be the difference in the game. Moberly was lead in scoring by guards Delfincko Bogan and Jabari Antwine with 12 points each while Indian Hills was lead by Ivan Aurreochea with 14 points while Maitte added 11 points in the low scoring contest.
“I just give a lot of credit to Indian Hills, they really guarded us and we never had an offensive flow the entire game,” said Moberly Coach Patrick Smith, “We started out well, hitting some shots but then they had two runs during the game we never answered. I give our players a lot of credit , they kept battling despite on defense and the boards despite out offensive problems. Indian Hills is an excellent team playing really well right now, hopefully this game will help us see what we need to do to get to the next level as we end the regular season and go into post-season.”
Moberly drops to 25-4 on the season and will end the regular season at Missouri State-West Plains on Friday. Indian Hills improves to 25-5 and starts Regional Tournament play next Wednesday.
