The final member of the 2018 sophomore class for the Moberly Area Community College Lady Greyhounds made her plans for next season known this weekend, as Jocelyn Taylor committed to Southeast Missouri State University. Taylor is the eighth MACC women’s player to move on to the four-year level, equaling the second most players to move on in a single season, and is the sixth Lady Greyhound to sign with an NCAA Division I program. The most Division I signees MACC has ever had in one year is seven, which occurred in 1998.

Taylor, a 6'0" guard/forward from Grand Rapids, Michigan, transferred to play for the Lady Greyhounds after spending her first season of eligibility at Southeastern Illinois College where she was named the Freshman of the Year in both the Great Rivers Athletic Conference and NJCAA Region 24.

As a sophomore at MACC Taylor averaged 9.6 points, five rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game, while being named first team All-Region and second team All-MCCAC. She was named the Lady Greyhounds Defensive Player of the Year after leading the team in steals and finishing second in blocked shots. Taylor scored in double figures 13 times this past season and notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in a 74-51 victory over State Fair on February 17th. She just missed posting a double-double in the Region Championship game with a 13 point, nine rebound performance against Crowder.

“It took Jocelyn a little time to understand that she didn’t have to try and do everything for us,” said Chad Killinger, now an assistant at East Carolina University. “But, once she saw how she could fit into our style of play she was an extremely tough match up for our opponents. She contributed in a variety of ways and her versatility, as well as her competitive spirit, will give her an opportunity to be a difference maker at SEMO next season.”

Taylor becomes the 40th player from MACC to commit to a four-year college over the past seven seasons, the most over any seven year period in program history, and is the 72nd Lady Greyhound to sign at the Division I level in 41 years.
